Maelstrom was originally set up in 1987 in the town of Barrow-in-Furness as a Jeans store evolving over the years into a high street value-led fashion retailer catering for both men and women, establishing itself as Cumbria's leading independent Jeanswear and fashion store.
The founders, Michael and Debbie Elliot were fiercely proud to be a family-run business at the Mighty Man shop in Carlisle but as the business grew decided to hand over the reins of their successful internet branch to Yvonne and Peter Richards in 2009. The same high level of customer service and quality was maintained and the Mighty Man site has grown to be a leader in the online world of fashion for the larger man.
In order to concentrate on their other business interests, Yvonne and Peter have passed the reins onto us and we are very excited about the future. Coming from a family of large and tall men Mark is well versed in the trials and tribulations of getting good quality, fashionable clothes that actually fit. We will continue to stock all your favourites including KAM and DUKE in sizes to fit waist of up to 70" and an inside leg of 38". Highly fashionable clothes that are competitively priced in sizes 2XL to 8XL will continue to feature but we hope to extend the range over the coming months as well.
